On Thursday at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Office of Advising and Academic Services for the School of Arts and Sciences sent a University-wide email canceling all finals taking place on the College Avenue campus before noon. All other campus exams will remain unchanged.

"We have received word from the Chancellor that due to a planned protest this morning, and out of an abundance of caution, finals on the College Avenue campus that are scheduled to take place before noon are cancelled," the email read.

Rutgers—New Brunswick Chancellor Francine Conway also issued the same statement about the protest in a University-wide email shortly after.

At approximately 8 a.m., the University's operating status stated that exams before noon Thursday on the campus would be "postponed." The exact language surrounding the situation has yet to be confirmed by the University administration.

Students are encouraged to contact their deans for further information about exams.

Dafna Lemish, the School of Communication and Information's interim dean and a distinguished professor in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, said she has no information other than the official communication from the University.

She said she "believe(s) (exams) were postponed" but said she was operating off of public information.

Editor's note: Further reporting will occur as the situation unfolds.
