The Rutgers women's basketball team has added another accolade to its program: Signee Kia Vaughn has been selected to play in the 14th annual Women's Basketball Coaches Association High School All-America Game.

Vaughn is the latest Rutgers recruit to be selected to play at the annual event, following the footsteps of current Knights seniors Cappie Pondexter and Chelsea Newton, and freshmen Matee Ajavon and Essence Carson.

Vaughn - a 6-foot-4 center - averaged 17 points, 20 rebounds and 4.5 blocked shots per game last year as a junior at Saint Michael's Academy. She's rated as the second-best post and sixth-best player overall by the All Star Girls Report and the No. 4 prospect by the Blue Star Report.

The New York City native was invited to the 2004 USA Basketball Junior National Team Trials, where she participated with Ajavon and Carson. Named to the Street & Smith's All-America First (2004) and Fifth (2003) Teams, Vaughn also was a Student Sports Junior All-American, a member of the USA Today Super 25 and Sophomore and Junior All-America Teams, a member of the Daily News 2003 All-Borough Team, and a selection to Newsday's All-Manhattan First Team (2004) and All-City Second Team (2003).

She also competed at the Nike All-America Camp and was named to the all-star team at the All-Game Sports All-America Camp, and was named to the all-tournament team at the Clyde Frazier Jr. (Slam Jam) Tournament.

Vaughn plays for a Street & Smith's top-10 program in St. Michaels and is a member of the AAU team New York Exodus.

The players selected to WBCA All-America Team will be divided into two squads comprised of ten players each, with college-style regulation rules.

The game is scheduled for Saturday, April 2 at the University of Indianapolis' Nicoson Hall in Indianapolis. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., followed by the WBCA All-Star Challenge, which features 20 of the top senior collegiate players in the country.

This capstone event tips-off the 24th Annual WBCA National Convention, which will take place at the site of the NCAA Women's Final Four.
