Raise your hand if you even realized the Rutgers women's basketball team played the No. 9 team in the country yesterday.
How many of you even realize that Bob Huggins is going to be at the RAC Wednesday night?
It's no knock on you. This is what happens when your football team is No. 7 in the nation and is coming off the biggest win in Rutgers football history.
Fred Hill Jr. sees what Greg Schiano has done with the football program. It took Schiano five years before he got the Knights to a bowl game.
Schiano had a vision, and Fred Hill has a similar one for the Knights.
"He came here six years ago and he had a vision in terms of the type of program he wanted to build, and certainly that vision is starting to come true," Hill said. "I have a vision of what we think Rutgers basketball will be.
"My vision is to build a first class program that can compete in the Big East for Championships and can compete on the national level year in and year out."
But just like many fans gave Schiano, you have to give Fred Hill time.
For any of you who showed up to the exhibition game against Caldwell College last week, it's easy to see that this team has trouble scoring points.
The Rutgers offense was based around Quincy Douby last year. This year there isn't a true go-to scorer on the team.
Hill even admits that there isn't going to be that go to guy necessarily.
"We have to do things in a more team oriented fashion," Hill said. "We have to do things with a little more continuity in terms of our offense. Let guys find their spots."
For any of you judging Hill's vision on this year - stop that.
Last week, Hill already signed four recruits for next season.
Corey Chandler is one of the best players in New Jersey and has star potential.
Michael Coburn is a legitimate point guard out of New York's Mt. Vernon High School who was being sought after by Bobby Gonzalez at Seton Hall.
After his senior season at West Milford, Justin Soffman committed to Rutgers before deciding to go to St. Thomas Moore Prep. He's a straight-up three-point shooter.
Earl Pettis is a versatile forward out of Philadelphia who Hill describes as a Marquis Webb-type player.
But the fact of the matter is that Hill is starting to get players to come to Rutgers.
And for those of you judging Hill on how competitive his team is this year, the Knights zone trap defense was effective against Caldwell College. And yes, it was only Caldwell College.
But the defense was something new, something aggressive. It's something fans can look forward to if they're looking for some fire in a team without the scoring prowess of Douby.
And for those of you with it marked on your calendar, Kansas State is two days away. It's Huggins first game back since resigning from Cincinnati.
So, students, it's your chance to come out and hold up your signs of all the punch lines you have for the Kansas St. first year coach. Maybe that's a way to get RU fans to get pumped for this season.
Who knows?
