Assailant attempts to mug Rutgers student
An unidentified member of the Rutgers community was almost mugged Wednesday night after an assailant armed with a sharp object searched his pockets, according to a crime alert by the Rutgers University Police Department.
The New Brunswick Police Department is investigating the crime. The victim was attacked on Neilson St. close to Morris St. shortly before 10:00 p.m.
The victim was superficially harmed, and was unable to provide a description of the attacker. The attacker is only identified as a male.

“The Rutgers University Police Department reminds you that you can reduce your chances of being a crime victim by taking reasonable precautions,” according to the alert.
These precautions include reporting suspicious activity, staying in groups and traveling through brightly lit areas, as well as staying aware of one’s surroundings.
