March 22 ELIZABETH — Brittany Banks, 25, of Plainfield, was sentenced to five years in prison after she threatened a group of people with a loaded shotgun. In April 2014, Banks was visiting a relative and an argument caused her to take a double-barreled shotgun from her car and threaten to "shoot up" the home and people inside. After 42 months she will be eligible for parole.
March 22 MONTCLAIR — A 75-year-old man shot his 51-year-old girlfriend in the buttocks one time after an argument in her William Street apartment. Edward Thompson voluntarily surrendered himself to police and he was arrested. He was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon and weapons possession charges. The woman was treated at St. Joseph's Hospital, police said.
