Police launch investigation after student reports stabbing on Delafield Street

According to a crime alert, the Rutgers student was outside of an off-campus party on Delafield Street at 12:43 a.m. when the assault took place. The incident is still being investigated and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD).

Local police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred between a Rutgers student and unknown perpetrator this past Sunday. The altercation took place around 12:43 a.m. on Delafield Street, roughly half a mile from the Rutgers Student Center.

Reports by police indicate the student was approached by the perpetrator shortly before the two engaged in an argument outside an off-campus party. He then allegedly assaulted the victim with a sharp object, fleeing the scene shortly after.

The victim was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A description of the victim is limited at the moment. Anyone with information regarding the case can contact the New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) at 732-745-5217.
