For the first time since the conference season has begun, the Rutgers volleyball team will venture to two states in two days to face off against its third pair of Big Ten teams this weekend. The Scarlet Knights (5-11, 0-4) will be challenged by Maryland on Friday in College Park, Maryland, and continue their action in Columbus, Ohio, where Ohio State resides. Rutgers has endured four Big Ten losses all in straight sets and that number continues to rise. The Knights are looking for a win to turn things around and not repeat last year’s upsetting season.
Another pair of losses haunted the Rutgers volleyball team at the College Avenue Gym this past weekend as the Scarlet Knights (5-11, 0-4) failed to outperform Big Ten opponents Northwestern (11-5, 1-3) and Illinois (12-3, 3-1). All four of Rutgers’ conference matches this season have been straight set losses, and the Knights have now accumulated five consecutive losses.

Rutgers’ volleyball team had a strong start last week as the Scarlet Knights competed in the East Carolina Invitational, the Seton Hall Classic, as well as a home opener in between the two tournaments.
As the 2017 season comes to a close, the Rutgers men’s golf team took a difficult loss at this year’s Big Ten Championship from April 28-30 by finishing in last with a final score of 892 (298-291-303). Junior team captain Matt Holuta led the Scarlet Knights by tying for 24th in a total score 217 (70-72-75).Illinois claimed the Big Ten title with a score 829 (269-279-281). Placing second and third respectively were Northwestern and Ohio State.Although Rutgers had a disappointing finish to conclude their spring season, the Knights had a strong start to their season by defeating both No. 2-seeded Michigan and No. 6-seeeded Ohio State at the Big Ten Match Play Championships in Palm Coast, Florida.Rutgers continued its momentum into the Colleton River Collegiate where the Knights finished fifth in the field.
