After years of research and experimentation, three Rutgers professors were recognized for their accomplishments through the “Inventor of the Year” Award, given out by the New Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame. Ximing Guo, a professor in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, won the award for advancements in shellfish genetics, said Margaret Brennan-Tonetta, the associate director of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station.
Sorority and fraternity members at Rutgers University hosted “Greek Week,” where they competed in activities that united the Rutgers and New Brunswick communities. John Reinhardt, the Interfraternity Council vice president of external operations, said IFC supports and supplies programs for educating and advancing men in the fraternities. The Panhellenic Council coordinates activities and programs while providing support to women in sororities.
Stephanie Patterson, a Richard Stockton College of New Jersey senior, had the opportunity to experience an onsen, a public bath around hot springs in Japan. She owes her experience to studying in an international school in Japan for 11 months. Like Patterson, many students are provided the opportunity to study abroad, which allows them to travel to a country other than their own and learn about its culture, education and communication.
