Rutgers researchers break down asthma with new computer chip model

Rutgers scientists have developed a small research model that will help improve the understanding and treatment of lung-related illnesses like asthma. The technology, called a "bronchi-on-a-chip," mimics lung cells and can be used to test potential medications more efficiently than traditional animal or petri dish models.

Rutgers welcomes largest first-year class in its history

To kick off this upcoming academic school year, Rutgers has greeted the largest and most diverse incoming class in its history, with most of the approximate 7,100 students arriving on campus this past week for Welcome Week events, said Salvador Mena, vice chancellor of Student Affairs, in an interview with The Daily Targum. 

Avery Young listened to the Friday Night Lights soundtrack before snagging first Rutgers interception

Before UMass, the last play sophomore defensive back Avery Young ever made on a Friday night delivered a championship to Coatesville Area Senior High School. Under the lights of the 2017 District 1 Class 6A final on a late November night in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, Young broke a 28-point tie when he returned an interception 72 yards for the winning touchdown. 

LaPlant's shot seals upset for Rutgers behind emerging defense

After three years hampered by injury, senior forward Brittany LaPlant is on a campaign to make up for lost time in her final season on the Rutgers women's soccer team. She made her first mark on that campaign with a shot that delivered the Scarlet Knights (3-0) a signature win in this early season as her game-winner in the 47th minute on Thursday night was all Rutgers needed to upset No. 11 Tennessee 1-0 at Yurcak Field.

NJ will require universities to provide more financial information in face of rising costs

A New Jersey bill signed into law this summer will force colleges and universities within the Garden State to include information such as graduation rates, default rates and average monthly loan repayments paid over a 10-year period in award letters sent to admitted students.
