Robert Bright appointed as acting director for veteran, military programs at Rutgers

Robert Bright, former assistant director of Rutgers’ Office of Veteran and Military Programs and Services (OVMPS), was appointed the acting director of the office effective April 1, said Richard L. Edwards, executive vice president for Academic Affairs and vice chancellor of Rutgers-New Brunswick in an email issued to the University community.

Students somberly congregated on the front steps of Brower Commons last night, with more than fifty pairs of hands clasping candles to honor the lives of Deah Shaddy Barakat, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha and Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, the three students that were shot at point-blank range by Craig Stephen Hicks over a parking dispute the evening of Feb. 10 in Chapel Hill, N.C. at the Finley Forest Condominium complex.


Students raise concerns about exam web tool ProctorTrack

Students registered for online classes in the Mason Gross School of the Arts for the spring semester are coming face-to-face with ProctorTrack, the recently-launched service that asks students to scan their faces, IDs and knuckles via webcam to prevent cheating on online exams. ProctorTrack commands an additional student fee of $32, in addition to the mandated $100 convenience fee. 








More than $1 million spent on tobacco in NJ

Trying to reduce the amount of cigarette smokers — an estimated 42.1 million people in the United States alone — is not a modern feat. But for the first time this year in alignment with Tobacco-Free Awareness Week, spanning from Jan. 18 to 24, academics compiled a record of just how expensive smoking can be by looking at more than just the price sticker on a pack of Marlboro Reds.
