Out of Gas

The Rutgers women's soccer team spent an entire season trying to hide it. And up until the final second faded off the clock yesterday afternoon, the stat sheets this season barely hinted at the cold fact that the Scarlet Knights were a battered team.

The Rutgers women's soccer team washed out of the Big East
Tournament on a late West Virginia goal, but are a lock to receive
an at-large bid to the NCAA'Tournament, beginning next week.

Early Exit

The normally pristine Yurcak Field looked like a horse track after the downpour the night before yesterday's Big East Tournament quarterfinal match between the No. 9 Rutgers women's soccer team and West Virginia.

Goalkeeper Erin Guthrie (1) is a four-year starter and the
anchor of a senior class that has helped the Rutgers women's soccer
team to its most fruitful stretch in program history.

Senior class comes full-circle in '09

The 2006 season was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Rutgers women's soccer program. Not even the incoming freshman class — ranked 16th in the country — was expected to immediately fill the void left by players like future Olympic superstar Carli Lloyd.

Freshman Devin'Jones won a Big'East Championship in the triple
jump with a Rutgers school record leap of 50 feet 9.25 inches.
The'Scarlet Knights also took titles on the track in the 500-meter
dash and 4x400-meter relay.

Nightmare at Yurcak

After nearly 30 minutes of lying on the field surrounded by paramedics, family members, coaches and teammates, Ashley Jones, in obvious excruciating pain, was taken away in an ambulance.
