'Robin Hood' leads U. to 'take out' extra swipe

On Monday, Charlie Kratovil—a Rutgers graduate and New Brunswick resident—with the help of student volunteers, began ‘Operation Robin Hood,' a grassroots plan to help feed the needy in New Brunswick.  Volunteers stood outside of Brower Commons asking individuals getting lunch take-out if they would swipe for an extra meal to be donated.  Meals were collected in baskets that were picked up every hour and delivered to Elijah's Promise in downtown New Brunswick. As of Wednesday, Charlie and volunteers were asked to stop their ‘operation,' after the University changed it meal swipe policy allowing for only one meal per customer.

Senior Day: In Pictures

While many players on the Rutgers football team were celebrating their Senior Day during this Saturday's game against West Virginia, I too was celebrating what could be the last time I step foot on the turf as a photographer covering the team.  I have spent the last four years as an editor and photographer at The Daily Targum and have had the opportunity to cover some of the biggest sporting events in Rutgers history including two straight bowls wins. In my fifteen or so football games I have shot during my time on the Banks I thought I had seen it all, but even I could not have thunk up a more fitting conclusion to my career than the Scarlet Knight's season closer.  Nothing represents my time spent shooting here more than an early December game in the snow against West Virginia, where a win seems in sight, but ultimately slips through the cracks.  Despite being tackled by Tim Brown running out of bounds  in the first half, it was certainly a Senior Day I won't soon forget.
