Rutgers student to bike across country for homeless

A house is a home, but not everyone is fortunate enough to have either.  Michelle Martino, an Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy second-year student, is preparing for her Bike & Build journey. During the trip, Martino and 30 other young adults will cycle across the country and stop along the way to help build homes for families in need, according to a press release from Justin Villere, director of operations.


Rutgers alumnus named new Peace Corps recruiter

After 27 months spent serving underprivileged regions, Daniel Turkel is helping to expand the Peace Corps, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping train people around the world for skilled positions. Turkel, a Rutgers—New Brunswick Class of 2012 graduate, joined the Peace Corps on March 18, 2013, because he realized he wanted to help others and have an adventure at the same time. Now, Turkel works as a recruiter for the organization.

Many people may recognize Kristin Davis from her character Charlotte York Goldenblatt on “Sex and the City.” But before becoming a famous actress, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater at the Mason Gross School of the Arts in 1987. Davis sat down with The Daily Targum to talk about her experiences as an undergraduate student at Rutgers as well as her life as an actress and avid philanthropist.
