Militant Sports Fandom

I am an ardent New York Yankees fan. I am not the type of fan who will leave a game in the seventh inning because they are losing, and I am definitely not the type of fan who is put off by an anemic offense and a third place finish.

Rutgers fans show their pride. Remember, trash talking the opposition is an integral part of the experience.

Are You a Fan?

It's time for sports! Fall is a great time to be a fan. Here at Rutgers, the Homecoming game is this Saturday. For those who are more inclined towards other sports, the MLB world series is just underway, the NFL is in the middle of its season, and the NBA regular season is right around the corner. So, did you put off personal engagements to watch the Giants beat the Vikings? Have you put off homework for a week to watch the Cardinals make it to the World Series?

Bang for Your Buck

There is no avoiding it: College is expensive. Fortunately, Rutgers provides all students with an .edu email address, which can be used for much more than just corresponding with professors. There are a lot of companies willing to shave a few dollars off sticker prices for destitute academics. —

Burning Questions for the PS4

In the first move of what promises to be a long season of reveals and announcements, Sony formally unveiled its highly anticipated successor to the PlayStation 3. The PlayStation 4, formerly known under the codename “Orbis,” was unveiled to members of the media and audiences across the Internet in a press conference that lasted nearly two and a half hours. Despite the presentation’s lengthy run-time and the vast amounts of new information, the conference presented even more questions surrounding Sony’s new console.

Shopping Problems

I am not a particularly fashionable individual. Don’t misunderstand — I do make an effort to dress well because I don’t like going to class looking like a complete bum. The problem is that I have neither the taste nor the interest to find out what looks good on me; I am 21 years old, and I freely admit that my mother shops for my clothes. She is very fashionable.

BlackBerry’s Last Stand

It’s no secret that the years have not been kind to Research in Motion (RIM), makers of the once iconic Blackberry line of phones. In fact, the times seem so dire for the Waterloo, Ontario-based telecommunications firm, that the company underwent a major corporate rebranding. Effective since Friday, the company formerly known as RIM became “BlackBerry Limited,” and the entire RIM website has since changed (including the unfortunately named domain ‘rim.jobs’), to reflect this new corporate directive. This piece of business news was only one story in a rather busy week for BlackBerry, however, as the company finally unveiled two new phones: the Z10 and Q10.

DmC: Devil May Cry Ninja Theory | Beat Grade: C-

“DmC: Devil May Cry” is a reboot of Capcom’s famous hack and slash, beat-’em-up action franchise. Even before its release, “DMC” drew the ire of the legions of the “Devil May Cry” faithful, who voiced discontent over various aesthetic and personality redesigns of some of the series’ characters, including the franchise’s iconic protagonist, Dante. While “DMC's" combat and gameplay are familiar, the characters, ambiance and storyline all diverge from the traditional “Devil May Cry” formula. Unfortunately, not all of these changes are for the better.
