Piscataway Police Chief Thomas Mosier retired on Friday, in the middle of three separate discrimination and harassment lawsuits filed against him this year, according to an article from Patch.

Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler originally appointed Mosier to the police chief position in January 2021.

In the past few months, three Piscataway police officers have come forward with three separate accounts of sexual harassment and discriminatory behavior by Mosier, according to the article.

These lawsuits mention accounts of Mosier mistreating gay and lesbian police officers in the department, saying offensive remarks to an officer born in another country and making sexual gestures in the township's police station in the presence of other officers.

After the second lawsuit was filed, Piscataway referred the situation to the Middlesex County Prosecutor for investigation, according to the article. Though, the status of the investigation is not public.

The police department is currently being led by Captain Warren Morrison and Captain Michelle Pilch.
