Rutgers looks to conquer Michigan demons

The Rutgers men's basketball team will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana, this week to play Michigan in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament. The eighth-seeded Scarlet Knights (20-11, 11-9) will try to beat the ninth-seeded Wolverines (19-12, 10-10) for the first time in history, as Michigan leads the all-time series 13-0. The winner will play first-seeded Wisconsin on Friday.

Rutgers' Baker, Harper Jr., Yeboah earn conference awards

Players from the Rutgers men’s basketball team were awarded with Big Ten honors on Monday. The Big Ten committee unveiled its postseason awards. Junior guard Geo Baker, sophomore guard Ron Harper Jr. and graduate student forward Akwasi Yeboah were all recognized. Baker and Harper Jr. received All-Big Ten honors along with many talented Big Ten athletes. Yeboah was awarded the sportsmanship award for his leadership and gamesmanship throughout this season.

The Rutgers wrestling team welcomed the 13 other Big Ten teams to the Rutgers Athletic Center (RAC) for the 106th edition of the conference tournament. At the conclusion of the first morning session on Saturday, the No. 25 Scarlet Knights (10-7, 4-5) did not have any wrestlers in the semifinal rounds.

Rutgers punches dancing ticket with win at Purdue

The Rutgers men's basketball team finally put its road demons to rest when it defeated Purdue 71-68 in overtime on Saturday. Playing in front of the Boilermakers' (16-15, 9-11) sold-out Senior Day crowd, the Scarlet Knights (20-11, 11-9) relied on defense and clutch shooting to escape with the victory at Mackey Arena and secure the season sweep against their opponent.

Rutgers honors careers of Downes, Carter, Yeboah before Maryland game

The Rutgers men’s basketball team arguably had its biggest win of the season Tuesday night against Maryland. The Scarlet Knights (19-11, 10-9) celebrated their huge win on Senior Night. They honored the careers of fourth-year junior guard Joey Downes, senior center Shaq Carter and co-captain graduate student forward Akwasi Yeboah.

The Rutgers men’s basketball team ended its three game losing streak last night at its home finale, defeating Maryland 78-67 in a one-sided victory. The Scarlet Knights (19-11, 10-9) faithful stormed the court in celebration at the Rutgers Athletic Center (RAC) as soon as the clock hit 0:00. Both the team and the fans have a right to be happy, as Rutgers will now most likely make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1991.
