Coming into the postseason as the No. 14 seed in the tournament, the Scarlet Knights pushed past Minnesota and Indiana in consecutive games only to take a strong-shooting Boilermakers side to the final seconds.

Rutgers stumbles on the road in loss to No. 16 Ohio State

Rutgers can still potentially enter its fourth consecutive Big Ten Tournament in last place, as the Knights (13-17, 3-14) failed to inch their way up the conference standings Tuesday night in a loss against the team it defeated in the first round of last year's tournament — the No. 16 Ohio State Buckeyes (23-7, 14-3). Ohio State firmly held its ground against Rutgers at the Value City Arena Tuesday night in a 79-52 finish, as the Buckeyes keep their sights set on a Big Ten Championship despite two late-season losses against Penn State and Michigan.

On a college basketball Saturday rife with upsets, the Rutgers men's basketball team walked into its matchup with No. 3 Purdue optimistic that it could play the part of Oklahoma State, St. John's or Missouri. Evidently, it was not the Scarlet Knights' (12-13, 2-10) job to curb the Boilermakers' (23-2, 12-0) 18-game winning streak, as Rutgers dropped its fifth game in a row in a heartbreaking 78-76 loss to Purdue at the Rutgers Athletic Center Saturday.

The Rutgers men's basketball team gets ready to host the No. 3 team in the country at the RAC this weekend, a sight that will hopefully not be as ugly as the team's last game on Tuesday night. The Scarlet Knights (12-12, 2-9) and the Boilermakers (22-2, 11-0) have already faced each other this season, with Purdue taking an easy 82-51 game at home.
