NBPD investigates attempted home invasion

The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is investigating an attempted home invasion on Delafield Street which was reported to have occurred on Wednesday at approximately 10:15 p.m., according to a University-wide email alert.

The victims, who are affiliated with the University, reported the perpetrator tried forcing his way into their residence with a handgun. The perpetrator fled on foot in an unknown direction after one of the victims yelled.

The victims did not sustain injuries, and no property was stolen. There is no description of the perpetrator at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or who may have been in the area at the time should contact the NBPD Detective Bureau.

The Rutgers University Police Department said students should remember to keep their doors locked when home, only allow familiar people to enter residences and report suspicious activity to the police.
