Rutgers wrapped its almost 250 years of history into a 30-second long commercial to mark its entry into the Big Ten Conference.

The spot, titled ‘Revolutionary,’ will mark its debut tomorrow during
Rutgers’ season-opening football game at Washington State, which will be televised on Fox Sports 1, said E.J. Miranda, director of media
relations, in an email.

Produced for a cost of $120,000, the
commercial features Rutgers faculty and students and showcases the
University’s research, teaching, service and excellent location, Miranda said.

The video will premiere on the home ground during the Sept. 6 game against Howard, and Rutgers expects to use the video frequently
for years to come.

“In the next two years, the video will be aired during football, men’s and women’s basketball and other televised
Rutgers athletic events on the Big Ten Network, CBS Sports and other
networks,” Miranda said. “On the BTN alone, the spot has the potential
to be seen in more than 90 million households, providing an
extraordinary opportunity for Rutgers to reach a national audience.”

Produced by New Brunswick-based Message & Media, the commercial can be viewed on a webpage detailing the Rutgers history, people and research featured in the video.

Rutgers announced its official move to the Big Ten in November 2012, according
to a previous article published in The Daily Targum. On July 1, Rutgers
celebrated its first day as one of two new members of the Big Ten with
‘R B1G Party’ at High Point Solutions Stadium on Busch campus.
