Rutgers student reports criminal sexual contact

On Jan. 25, a student became a victim of “criminal sexual contact” after taking a EE bus between the College Avenue campus and Douglass campus, according to a crime alert by the Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD).

“In this incident the victim … reported being touched on the thigh and buttocks while standing on a crowded University bus,” according to the crime alert.

The assailant left the bus near the Public Safety Building and was not tracked.

“The perpetrator is described as a white male, approximately 20 years old, 5-foot-4 tall,” according to the crime alert.

At the time he was wearing a black hat, glasses, jeans and a brown jacket.

The police are now investigating the assault.

RUPD recommends that people walk in groups and stay alert to prevent incidents like these from happening again.

Any members of the Rutgers community who know who the assailant is or can provide information leading to his arrest can contact RUPD at (848) 932-8025. More information can be found online through RUPD’s Nixle system.
