After finishing in last place at the Big Ten Championships for the third consecutive season, the Rutgers rowing team will undergo a regime change, as head coach Max Borghard and his entire staff have stepped down from their respective positions, effective immediately.

The Daily Targum acquired the following email that Athletic Director Pat Hobbs sent the team on Wednesday afternoon with the news.

Borghard, a 1987 graduate of Rutgers with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, just completed his 22nd season as the head coach of the women's rowing team. He was a successful rower during his time on the Banks and was selected to the U.S. National Team in both 1986 and 1987.

The three assistant coaches that stepped down were Farrah Edwards, Katie Coons and Michael Eichler.

Per Hobbs' email, the athletic department will begin a national search immediately.
