Prabhas Moghe, distinguished professor in the School of Engineering, has become the inaugural vice chancellor for Research and Innovation (VCRI) for Rutgers University—New Brunswick.

Moghe made contributions to the School of Engineering for various disciplines such as interdisciplinary graduate education, biomedical and health sciences and innovations in nanomedicine. Moghe has also directed several diversity initiatives and was recognized for his work by the Leadership in Diversity Award at Rutgers, according to an email from University Chancellor Debasish Dutta.

In his new position, effective Jan. 16, Moghe will report to the chancellor. According to the email, he will work to oversee, nurture and advance faculty research as well as develop relationships with organizations in an effort to raise visibility of Rutgers’ research and innovation.
