The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) is investigating a residential robbery that occurred yesterday near the College Avenue campus, according to a University-wide email alert.

The alert said four individuals unlawfully entered a residence near Stone Street and Bartlett Street at approximately 2 a.m. The RUPD said the suspects entered the home through an unspecified unlocked entry point.

After the perpetrators gained entry, they stole valuables from the premises before being confronted by several residents, according to the alert. The individuals subsequently fled the scene.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and law enforcement did not have a description of any of the four suspects. Anyone with information regarding the break-in is asked to contact the RUPD’s Detective Bureau.

The RUPD reminds the University community to lock their doors, secure valuable items and report suspicious people or activity to the police immediately.
