The power outages in New Brunswick this weekend and again today on Busch campus in Piscataway were all unrelated, according to University Spokesperson Patti Zielinski.

Over the weekend, two separate power outages impacted the College Avenue, Douglass and Cook campuses.

Zielinski said the first power outage occurred on Friday due to severe weather, and a second outage occurred on Sunday when an animal damaged an electrical substation.

The Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) was able to restore power after the brief outages. Today, on Busch campus in Piscataway, an issue with Rutgers equipment caused a power outage, Zielinski said. This outage was unrelated to PSE&G.

PSE&G says that New Brunswick residents can track power outages using its online and mobile tools and recommends taking safety precautions during such events.

Zielinski said that Rutgers has an online resource for students that details what to do in the event of a power outage.
